Soccer Game Preview: Deer Valley vs. Liberty

Deer Valley is 0-10 against Liberty since February of 2020 but things could change on Friday. The Deer Valley Wolverines will be playing in front of their home fans against the Liberty Lions at 6:00 p.m. Neither squad made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Deer Valley fell victim to Heritage and their airtight defense on Tuesday. They came up short against the Patriots, falling 10-0. While losing is never fun, the Wolverines can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 963rd, while the Patriots are ranked 472nd).

Meanwhile, Liberty had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4 goals) and they went ahead and made it six on Friday. They never let the Falcons onto the board and left with a 1-0 victory. Nohealani Dillon had the honor of scoring the game-winner for the Lions.

Liberty's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-2-2. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 13 goals over those three matches. As for Deer Valley, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-10.
