Basketball Game Preview: Kennedy Eagles vs. Vallejo Redhawks

Kennedy and Vallejo are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2019, but not for long. The Kennedy Eagles will face off against the Vallejo Redhawks at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Kennedy has four straight victories, Vallejo has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Last Friday, Kennedy humbled Hercules with a 68-21 victory. The Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven games by 20 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Vallejo came up short against Archie Williams on Saturday and fell 30-19. While losing is never fun, the Redhawks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 875th, while the Peregrine Falcons are ranked 325th).

Kennedy will have to keep a close watch on Veekie Head and Zurrie Washington, a pair of players who had a big impact on Vallejo's prior game. Head posted six points along with 12 rebounds and three blocks, while Washington had two points in addition to five boards and five steals.

Kennedy's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-3. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 23.3 points per game. As for Vallejo, their loss dropped their record down to 9-13.

Kennedy suffered a grim 56-35 defeat to Vallejo in their previous matchup back in January. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Head, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 15 rebounds.
