Baseball Game Preview: Gatewood Gators vs. Pinewood Christian Patriots

Gatewood is 0-7 against Pinewood Christian since April of 2015 but things could change on Thursday. The Gators will welcome the Patriots at 5:30 p.m. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.

Gatewood is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Windsor Academy a 30-0 shutout on Tuesday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Gators with their most commanding win of the season.

The team relied heavily on Jayden Moss, who fired off three home runs and ten RBI while going 3-for-3. Those three home runs gave him a new career-high. Walker Roberts was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Pinewood Christian, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over Citizens Christian Academy on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for Pinewood Christian, who have now won seven contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Gatewood has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for Pinewood Christian, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-3.
