Softball Recap: Rocky Ford Meloneers vs. Limon Badgers
Rocky Ford had lost five straight on the road, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 4-18 to make it six. They lost 15-9 to the Limon Badgers. The Meloneers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Badgers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.
Annesyiah Camacho was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. That home run was her first of the season.
As for Limon, with the win, they broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 4-17. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for they considering their two-run performance the matchup before.
On Limon's side, Bryleigh Fox made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and five unearned) runs off five hits. That's the most strikeouts Fox has posted since back in September of 2024. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
In other batting news, Limon let Alex Kuhns and Randi Carson run wild. Kuhns got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs, one double, and one RBI, while Carson went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. That's the most runs Kuhns has posted since back in September. Jessa Book was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.
Coming up, Rocky Ford will host Lamar at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Limon, they will take on Holyoke at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Dragons have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 13.29 runs per game on average), something the Badgers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
