Vinton County and Alexander are an even 5-5 against one another since October of 2020, but not for long. The Vikings will square off against the Spartans at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Vinton County came up short against Chillicothe on Tuesday, falling 3-0. The defeat continues a trend for the Vikings in their meetings with the Cavaliers: they've now lost three in a row.

The 3-0 score doesn't really reflect how close the match was: every set was decided by three points or less. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 26-24, 25-22, 25-23.

Meanwhile, Alexander entered their tilt with Athens on Tuesday with five consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with six. They came out on top against the Bulldogs by a score of 3-1.

Alexander had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The match finished with set scores of 24-26, 25-22, 25-13, 25-18.

Alexander's win bumped their record up to 18-3. As for Vinton County, their loss dropped their record down to 9-11.

Vinton County skirted past Alexander 3-2 in their previous matchup back in September. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Vikings since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
