Football Game Preview: Union City Bears vs. Northwestern Wildcats

Union City is 0-4 against Northwestern since October of 2021 but things could change on Friday. The Bears will take on the Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

Union City is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They took a 28-21 hit to the loss column at the hands of Moniteau on Saturday. The matchup was a 21-21 toss-up at halftime, but the Bears couldn't quite close it out.

Union City's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Dallas Triscuit, who gained 89 total yards and two touchdowns, and Danny Smtih, who rushed for 98 yards and one TD.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Northwestern took on Seneca on Friday. The Wildcats fell 28-20 to the Bobcats. The Wildcats haven't had much luck with the Bobcats recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Union City will need to focus on slowing down Reese Gonzales, one of several Northwestern players who made an impact when they last played. He picked up 107 receiving yards and a pair of scores. Braden Swift was another key player, throwing for 160 yards and three touchdowns.

Union City's record is now 1-6. As for Northwestern, their record now sits at 2-6.

Union City suffered a grim 28-6 defeat to Northwestern in their previous meeting back in October of 2024. Can the Bears avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
