Preview: Warren County Eagles vs. Pender Patriots
Warren County has been on the road for two straight, but on Friday they'll finally head home. They will take on The Pender Patriots at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in North Carolina (Warren County is ranked 351st, while Pender is ranked 343rd).
After only six points in their last game, Warren County made sure to put some points up on the board against North Edgecombe last Monday. Warren County strolled past North Edgecombe with points to spare, taking the game 34-20. Warren County pushed the score to 34-8 by the end of the third, a deficit North Edgecombe cut but never quite recovered from.
Meanwhile, Pender's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They took a serious blow against Heide Trask, falling 58-28.
Despite the defeat, Pender got a solid performance out of Jeremiah Johnson, who rushed for 181 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 8.2 yards per carry. The team also got some help courtesy of Coryyon Moore, who rushed for 54 yards and a touchdown.
Warren County's win bumped their record up to 5-5. As for Pender, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season.
