Soccer Game Preview: De Anza vs. Saint Mary's

De Anza is 0-10 against Saint Mary since November of 2016 but things could change on Tuesday. The De Anza Dons will square off against the Saint Mary's Panthers at 3:30 p.m.

De Anza is headed into Tuesday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their seventh straight game on Friday. They were a single goal away from ending the streak, but they lost a 1-0 heartbreaker at the hands of Bethel.

Meanwhile, it was close, but on Thursday Saint Mary's sidestepped Pinole Valley for a 2-1 win. Given the Panthers' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 304th, while the Spartans are ranked 650th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Saint Mary's has also been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-3-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 22 goals over those five games. As for De Anza, their loss dropped their record down to 2-9.

De Anza might still be hurting after the 4-0 defeat they got from Saint Mary's in their previous matchup back in December of 2024. Can De Anza avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
