Basketball Game Preview: Tri-City Christian Eagles vs. Valley Center Jaguars

Tri-City Christian is 4-0 against Valley Center since November of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Monday. The Tri-City Christian Eagles will host the Valley Center Jaguars at 5:30 p.m. Tri-City Christian is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last three games.

Tri-City Christian is headed into the contest after thoroughly thrashing Escondido Adventist Academy: they outscored them in every quarter. Tri-City Christian strolled past Escondido Adventist Academy with points to spare on Thursday, taking the game 49-31.

Tri-City Christian can attribute much of their success to Katie Busch, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and ten rebounds, and Talia Anthony, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 16 boards. Busch has been hot for a while, having posted eight or more rebounds the last 17 times she's played. Kaedyn Ybarra also deserves some recognition as she posted her first block of the season.

Tri-City Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 21 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since back in December of 2023.

Meanwhile, after only 25 points in their last game, Valley Center made sure to put some points up on the board against Ramona on Friday. Valley Center blew past Ramona 60-13. That 47 point margin sets a new team best for the Jaguars this season.

Valley Center's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-8. As for Tri-City Christian, their win bumped their record up to 6-2.

Tri-City Christian didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Valley Center when the teams last played back in November of 2023, but they still walked away with a 33-27 victory. Will Tri-City Christian repeat their success, or does Valley Center have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
