Baseball Game Preview: Apalachee Wildcats vs. Winder-Barrow Bulldoggs

Apalachee hasn't had much luck against Winder-Barrow recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Apalachee Wildcats will head out on the road to square off against the Winder-Barrow Bulldoggs at 5:55 p.m. Apalachee is coming into the game hot, having won their last five games.

On Friday, Apalachee had just enough and edged out Clarke Central 3-2.

Apalachee's win was truly a team effort as two different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Russell Malcom, who went 1-for-2 with one triple and one run. That triple marked the first that Malcom hit this season.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Winder-Barrow, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Habersham Central on Friday, sneaking past 2-1. The victory was some much needed relief for the Bulldoggs as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.

The win got Apalachee back to even at 7-7. As for Winder-Barrow, their victory was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 7-5.

Apalachee came up short against Winder-Barrow in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, falling 3-0. Can Apalachee avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
