Football Game Preview: Holmes Aces vs. Camden County Bruins

Holmes is a perfect 8-0 against Camden County since October of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Aces will host the Bruins at 7:00 p.m. This will be Holmes' first chance to prove their worth in the conference.

Holmes is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They claimed a resounding 75-20 win over First Flight. With the Aces ahead 68-7 at the half, the game was all but over already.

One reason for the win was Holmes' imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for 7.5 sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Amari Bond and Noah Browder, who racked up five sacks between them. Browder is also crushing it when it comes to total tackles: he's made at least six every time he's taken the field this season. Chris Wilson got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Meanwhile, Camden County gave up the first points on Thursday, but they didn't let that get them down. They enjoyed a cozy 29-14 victory over Pamlico County.

Camden County's win came from a few key players Holmes will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Trot Pipkin, who picked up 57 receiving yards and two scores.

Camden County was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 215 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in September of 2024.

Holmes' first win this season bumped their record up to 1-4. As for Camden County, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-3.

Holmes skirted past Camden County 25-22 in their previous matchup back in October of 2024. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was the Bruins' Javon Riddick, who rushed for 163 yards and one touchdown on only 15 carries, and also picked up 65 receiving yards and one TD.
