Nevada high school football rankings: Bishop Gorman No. 1 in 2024 Preseason MaxPreps Top 25

Gaels begin 2024 ranked No. 2 nationally after capturing national title last season.

The high school football season in Nevada kicks off this week and MaxPreps has your look at the state's top teams. Defending Class 5A Division I state champion Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas) owns the No. 1 spot in the Preseason MaxPreps Top 25.

The Gaels are the defending national champions after capping a 12-0 season with a 56-11 victory over Liberty (Henderson) in the state championship game. Bishop Gorman picked up seven wins against in-state opponents last season, outscoring them 376-65.

Seniors S.J. Alofaituli (6-3, 290, OL, Miami commitment), Alai Kalaniuvalu (6-4, 300, OL, Oregon), Derek Meadows (6-5, 200, WR, LSU) and Douglas Utu (6-5, 300, OL, Tennessee) along with juniors James Carrington (6-2, 270, DL) and Jett Washington (6-4, 175, DB) lead the charge for the Gaels this season.

In addition to Bishop Gorman, defending state champions include Eureka in 1A, Lake Mead Academy (Henderson) in 2A, Truckee (Calif.) in 3A, Centennial (Las Vegas) in 4A, Bishop Manogue (Reno) in 5A II and Legacy (North Las Vegas) in 5A III.
