Basketball Recap: Chino Beats Montclair for Their Fifth Straight Win

Chino had won four straight games and Tess Oldenburg did her part to make it five on Monday. The Chino Cowboys really took it to the Montclair Cavaliers for the full four quarters, racking up a 54-18 win thanks in part to Oldenburg, who posted 17 points in addition to five blocks and three steals. Her evening made it five games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points.

Natalia Becerra was another key player, putting up four points along with seven boards and three steals. That's the most steals she has posted since back in November of 2024.

Chino's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-5. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.8 points per game. As for Montclair, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-16.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Chino has already played their next contest (against Chaffey), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Montclair will take on Don Lugo at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Montclair is facing Don Lugo at the right time seeing as Don Lugo is stuck on a six-game losing streak.
