Softball Recap: Valdosta Takes a Loss

Valdosta was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 21st straight defeat. They fell 5-0 to the Lowndes Vikings. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Vikings this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 9-1 on Tuesday.

Jesselyn Johnson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five runs (all of which were unearned) on seven hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Valdosta saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Karlie Hart, who went 1-for-3 with one double. That hit was Hart's first of the season.

Valdosta's loss dropped their record down to 3-23. As for Lowndes, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 8-20.

While Valdosta had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
