Soccer Game Preview: Brookstone vs. Strong Rock Christian

The Brookstone Cougars will head out to square off against the Strong Rock Christian Patriots at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Brookstone's last three games have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

While the 1-1 score might suggest a draw, it was St. Anne-Pacelli who was credited with the victory on Tuesday. The Vikings got it done in the shootout by posting five goals to Brookstone's four. While losing is never fun, Brookstone can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia soccer rankings (they are ranked 279th, while St. Anne-Pacelli are ranked 91st).

Brookstone's goal came courtesy of Jimmy Hunter, who's now up to two this season.

Strong Rock Christian will roll into the match after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one goal last Tuesday, then bounced right back against Brookstone last Thursday. The Patriots beat the Cougars by a goal, winning 4-3. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for Strong Rock Christian's offense, which had struggled in the games prior.

Strong Rock Christian's win was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 9-4. As for Brookstone, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-9 record this season.
