The Central Rockets will take on the Jacobs Eagles at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
On Wednesday, Central needed a bit of extra time to put away Wauconda. They had just enough and edged out the Bulldogs 9-8. That's two games straight that the Rockets have won by just one run.

Connor Sreckov made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 4-for-5 with four RBI, one run, and one double. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Wagner Viebrock, who got on base in five of his six plate appearances with two runs and two RBI. What's more, he posted two hits, the most he's had since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Aidan Lindquist, who went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Jacobs). They were the clear victors by a 19-3 margin over Marian Central Catholic on Wednesday. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Eagles as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.
Connor Davis looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.
On the hitting side, Cooper Gulgren was incredible, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run and two RBI. Jace Koth was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one double.
Jacobs always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .692. They are a perfect 9-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Jacobs' victory bumped their record up to 19-11. As for Central, their win bumped their record up to 14-17-2.
Central came out on top in a nail-biter against Jacobs in their previous matchup two weeks ago, sneaking past 6-4. Will the Rockets repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
