Football Recap: Heritage Academy Victorious

There's no place like home for Heritage Academy, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They slipped by the San Pasqual Valley Warriors 21-20 on Thursday. Given the Heroes' advantage in MaxPreps' football rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 215th in Arizona, while the Warriors are ranked 1029th in California) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Preston Miller had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 144 yards and one touchdown on only 12 carries, while also throwing for 83 yards and one TD. His longest rush was for an incredible 70 yards.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Heritage Academy was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 227 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in October of 2024.

Heritage Academy didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Kaelan Williams and Miller.

When it comes to explaining why San Pasqual Valley lost, don't look at Alex Acuna. Despite the final result, he rushed for 148 yards and one score while picking up 8.7 yards per carry. Acuna also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, picking up a sack, making 11 total tackles (2.0 for loss), and defending one pass.

Heritage Academy's win was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 4-3. As for San Pasqual Valley, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-5.
