Softball Recap: Air Academy Comes Up Short

After flying high against Silver Creek on Friday, Air Academy came back down to earth. The Kadets fell 6-3 to the Frederick Golden Eagles on Friday. The Kadets were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Golden Eagles earlier this season, when they won 6-5.

Bailey Williams put in work while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off seven hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI.

In other batting news, Rideau Dravida and Kylen Tucker-Flynn did some serious damage despite the final result: Dravida went a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple and one RBI, while Tucker-Flynn went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. That triple marked the first that Dravida has hit this season. Another player making a difference was Keira Finkle, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.

Air Academy's loss dropped their record down to 16-7-1. As for Frederick, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-7 record this season.

As of now, neither Air Academy nor Frederick have any future games scheduled.
