Recap: St. Bernard's Crusaders vs. Weed Cougars
The St. Bernard's Crusaders put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They came out on top against Weed by a score of 57-45. That's another feather in the cap for St. Bernard's, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Laila Florvilus was her usual excellent self, scoring 29 points. The contest was her fifth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Jocelyn Sundberg, who scored 9 points.
Weed's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Tayler Davaris, who scored 12 points along with 6 steals. Davaris hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Renaissance Johnson, who dropped a double-double on 10 points and 10 rebounds.
St. Bernard's victory bumped their record up to 5-0. As for Weed, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-2.
St. Bernard's won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Del Norte at 10:30 a.m. on December 9th. Weed is on the road again on Saturday and play against Yreka at 1:30 p.m. on December 9th. Yreka will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 347th, while Weed is ranked 59th).
