The Sumner Stingrays will square off against the Armwood Hawks at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Sumner is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7 runs per game this season.

Sumner took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They never let Lennard get on the board and left with a 10-0 win.

ETHAN DEJESUS tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out 11 over five innings pitched.

Sumner was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. The last time their batting average was this high was back in March of 2025.

Meanwhile, Tuesday just wasn't the day for Armwood's offense. They came up short against Strawberry Crest on Tuesday, falling 9-0. The game marked the first time this season in which the Hawks were not able to get on the board.

Armwood saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Demetrius Baker Jr., who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases. Dylan Michiels also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Sumner now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Armwood, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Sumner has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 10.6 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Armwood struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.

Sumner skirted past Armwood 4-3 in their previous meeting back in February of 2025. Will the Stingrays repeat their success, or do the Hawks have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
