Recap: Harmony Area Owls vs. Blacklick Valley Vikings

The Harmony Area Owls's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their fifth straight defeat. They took a serious blow against Blacklick Valley, falling 68-17. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Harmony Area has scored all season.

Leading Blacklick Valley to victory were Kristin Szymusiak and Kaydence Killinger. Szymusiak dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten steals, while Killinger dropped a double-double on 29 points and 13 rebounds. Killinger is crushing the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Tressa Fatula, who scored six points along with three steals.

Harmony Area dropped their record down to 1-13 with that loss, which was their third straight at home. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 29.3 points per game. As for Blacklick Valley, the win was the 12th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 21-1.

Harmony Area will head out on the road to take on Philipsburg-Osceola at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Harmony Area is facing Philipsburg-Osceola at the right time seeing as Philipsburg-Osceola is stuck on a 13-game losing streak. Blacklick Valley will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against Turkeyfoot Valley Area at 12:00 p.m. on February 17th. One thing working in Blacklick Valley's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last 12 contests.
