Baseball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Peoria Christian

Peoria Christian extended their winning streak to three on Thursday, bumping them up to 14-13. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Deer Creek-Mackinaw Chiefs, sneaking past 6-4. This was payback for the Chargers, who suffered a 10-9 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Luke Holland was incredible, going 2-for-3 with four stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Those four stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Josiah Kniep was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs.

Peoria Christian hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in three consecutive games.

As for Deer Creek-Mackinaw, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 18-10. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss they have suffered since April 29th.

On Deer Creek-Mackinaw's side, they got a good showing from Gatlin Lester, who pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits.

On the hitting side, Deer Creek-Mackinaw saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Drew Swadinsky, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Looking ahead, Peoria Christian is taking a road trip to take on ROWVA/Williamsfield at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Deer Creek-Mackinaw, they will host Princeville at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
