Baseball Recap: Gainesville Drops Highest Score of Season Against Milton

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Gainesville). They put the hurt on the Milton Eagles with a sharp 11-5 victory on Thursday. The win was some much needed relief for the Red Elephants as it spelled an end to their seven-game losing streak.

Cohen Miller made a big impact no matter where he played. He struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. He has become a key player for Gainesville: the team is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 1-10 otherwise. Miller was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-5.

In other batting news, Gainesville got a massive performance out of Adrian Medina, who scored a run and stole a base while going 4-for-5. The dominant performance also gave Medina a new career-high in RBI (two). Jacob Griffin also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Gainesville's victory was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 3-11. As for Milton, their record now sits at 6-9.

Gainesville will have a chance to go back-to-back against Milton: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
