Basketball Game Preview: Freire Charter Dragon vs. Shipley

The Freire Charter Dragon just played yesterday, but they'll still head out to face Shipley at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Freire Charter is headed into the game out to prove that what happened against Wildwood Catholic on Wednesday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Freire Charter was outmatched by Wildwood Catholic and fell 73-32. While losing is never fun, the Dragon can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 135th in Pennsylvania, while the Crusaders are ranked 14th in New Jersey).

Meanwhile, Shipley unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-game winning streak on Tuesday. They lost 68-48 to Westtown.

Freire Charter's defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-8. As for Shipley, their loss dropped their record down to 16-8.

Freire Charter took a serious blow against Shipley in their previous meeting back in December of 2021, falling 61-12. Can Freire Charter avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
