Football Game Preview: Albuquerque Academy Chargers vs. St. Pius X Sartans + How To Watch

The Albuquerque Academy Chargers will face off against the St. Pius X Sartans at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Albuquerque Academy has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the matchup with three straight losses, while St. Pius X will come in with four straight wins.

Last Saturday, Albuquerque Academy ended up a good deal behind Chaparral and lost 35-20. The game marked the Chargers' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Despite the defeat, Albuquerque Academy had strong showings from Finn Thompson, who picked up 100 receiving yards and one TD, and Logan Hague, who picked up 81 receiving yards and one touchdown. Hague showed off some serious burst, lighting up the secondary with a catch for 61 yards.

Meanwhile, St. Pius X's offense rose to the challenge against a Fighting Colts defense that boasted an average of only 14 points allowed on Friday. The Sartans blew past Silver 34-14. The matchup marked the Sartans' most dominant victory of the season so far.

Albuquerque Academy better keep an eye on Hershul Olloway Jr. He was instrumental in St. Pius X's win, rushing for 241 yards and four scores while picking up 11.0 yards per carry. That's the most rushing touchdowns Olloway Jr has posted since back in October of 2024. St. Pius X also got help from Cayl Cox-Liggins, who showed off his sure hands for 110 receiving yards.

St. Pius X's win bumped their record up to 4-0. As for Albuquerque Academy, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Things could have been worse for Albuquerque Academy, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 35-21 loss to St. Pius X in their previous meeting back in October of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Olloway Jr, who rushed for 257 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 9.9 yards per carry.
