Baseball Recap: Kennesaw Mountain Triumphs

Kennesaw Mountain proved they can win big on Tuesday (they won by ten) and on Wednesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They won by a run and slipped past the Alexander Cougars 4-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Mustangs have posted since February 24th.

Kennesaw Mountain got a great performance from Ryad Sheikh as he pitched five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Sheikh has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Kennesaw Mountain secured the victory behind a pair of hitters. One of them was Jake Phelps, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

Kennesaw Mountain is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-9 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Alexander, their loss dropped their record down to 6-11.

Kennesaw Mountain will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Cougars: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
