Soccer Game Preview: Mary Persons vs. Heritage

The Mary Persons Bulldogs will face off against the Heritage Generals at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Mary Persons will be strutting in after a victory while Heritage will be coming in after a loss.

Mary Persons is headed in fresh off scoring the most goals they have all season. They blew past Locust Grove 7-1 on Friday. The result was nothing new for Mary Persons, who have now won eight games by three goals or more so far this season.

Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, Heritage's good fortune finally ran out two weeks ago. While the 2-2 score might suggest a draw, it was Ringgold who was credited with the win. The Tigers got it done in the shootout by posting five goals to Heritage's four. Both teams had to tread carefully at times as the refs weren't afraid to hand out yellow cards: Brett Simpson was handed one for Heritage, while Ringgold got theirs courtesy of Isaac Talley.

Mary Persons' victory was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-4. Those road wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 27 goals over those seven contests. As for Heritage, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-7.
