Baseball Recap: Sparta Triumphs

Sparta never let their opponents score on Tuesday. They walked away with a 5-0 victory over the North Muskegon Norsemen. This was payback for the Spartans, who suffered a 7-5 loss the last time these two teams met.

Brenton Mojzak made a big impact no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out ten over seven innings pitched. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

Mojzak wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Brenden Rector, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one double.

The win made it two in a row for Sparta and bumps their season record up to 11-21. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 1 runs in those games. As for North Muskegon, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 20-12-1 record this season.

Sparta will square off against Zeeland West at 4:15 a.m. on Wednesday. North Muskegon does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
