Basketball Recap: Justin Garza Find Success

It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Justin Garza ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Madera South Stallions, sneaking past 35-32. This was a revenge game for the Guardians: when they faced off against the Stallions back in January, they had to take a 54-37 defeat.

Tyla Maxey was the offensive standout of the game as she posted 16 points. Another player making a difference was Lailah Whittle, who had seven points.

Madera South's loss came despite strong showings from MICHELLE CORONA and CRYSTALINA BUITRON. CORONA earned 14 points, while BUITRON put up 12 points. The dominant performance gave CORONA a new career-high in points.
