Basketball Recap: Hough Comes Up Short

If Hough was riding high fresh off their 67-45 takedown of Lake Norman Charter last Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Hough Huskies lost to the Hopewell Titans at home by a 60-46 margin on Friday. The Huskies haven't had much luck with the Titans recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Defeat or not, Hough got some senior leadership from Judah Freeman and Jadah Freeman. Judah went 7-for-15 en route to 15 points, while Jadah posted seven points and seven boards. The game was Judah's fifth in a row with at least 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Nick Bellofatto, who scored six points.

Hopewell's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ka'Mari Cooke, who put up nine points along with eight assists and four steals. Cooke has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last five times he's played. Khaden Clark was another key player, going 6-for-8 to rack up 12 points and seven rebounds.

Hough's record is now 13-11. As for Hopewell, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which lines up perfectly with their 18-6 record this season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Hopewell beat Hough by a score of 56-49 on Monday.
