Baseball Recap: Woodward Academy Takes a Loss

Woodward Academy's last matchup with Lovett could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's matchup on Monday. The War Eagles lost 13-2 to the Lions. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the War Eagles, who until this contest were averaging 3.68 runs allowed.

Woodward Academy got a good showing from Nicholas McMahon, who pitched 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. McMahon has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Keeler Edwards was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Khalon Davis, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one double.

Woodward Academy's loss dropped their record down to 17-5. As for Lovett, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 21-4.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Woodward Academy will host LaGrange at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Lovett, they will square off against Westminster at 5:55 p.m. on Thursday.
