Softball Recap: Odem Comes Up Short

Odem extended their losing streak to six on Tuesday, dropping them down to 10-19. They came up short against the Mathis Pirates, falling 15-5. That's two games in a row now that the Owls have lost by exactly ten runs.

Odem saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mariana Torrez, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI.

As for Mathis, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-9 record this season. Considering they have won 12 matchups by more than eight runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

On Mathis' side, the team relied heavily on Audrey Salinas, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, one triple, and two RBI. Ava Medrano was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one double.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Odem will take on Taft at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Greyhounds have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.29 runs per game on average), something the Owls will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Mathis, they will face off against Aransas Pass at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
