Softball Recap: Poudre Comes Up Short

Poudre had lost nine straight at home dating back to last season, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 2-4 to make it ten. They came up short against the Greeley West Spartans, falling 17-0. The matchup marked the first time this year in which the Impalas were not able to get on the board.

Poudre saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ava Rivas, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one double. Cecelia Hevenor also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

As for Greeley West, their win bumped their record up to 4-2. They haven't had any issues with Poudre recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

On Greeley West's side, Amaya Cron made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Cron was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, Madison DeVault was a standout: she went a perfect 4-for-4 with five RBI, three runs, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Isabella Rubio, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles.

Poudre has already played their next contest, a 15-0 loss against Windsor on the 28th. As for Greeley West, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 19-15 defeat against Fossil Ridge on the 28th.
