Having struggled with five losses in a row, Battle Mountain turned things around against Aspen on Tuesday. They never let the Skiers get on the board and left with a 23-0 win. That 23 run margin sets a new team best for the Huskies this season.
Ellie Rella made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Rella was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Addison Smith and Harper Jimenez Anders did most of the damage at the plate: Smith went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs, while Jimenez Anders went a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, two stolen bases, and two RBI. Those two stolen bases gave Jimenez Anders a new career-high. Perla Chavez was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
Battle Mountain always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .719. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Aspen only posted an OBP of .273.
Meanwhile, Eagle Valley started off well but failed to capitalize on an early lead against Palisade. They lost 17-11 to the Bulldogs on Monday. The Devils have struggled against the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
The victory got Battle Mountain back to even at 7-7. As for Eagle Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-12-1.
