Basketball Recap: Commodore Perry Victorious

Commodore Perry proved they can win big on Wednesday (they won by 38) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. In a tight matchup that could have gone either way, they made off with a 44-43 victory over the Hickory Hornets.

Commodore Perry's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Bella Saxe led the charge by putting up 22 points and seven boards. The dominant performance also gave Saxe a new career-high in blocks (two). Another player making a difference was Eastin Post, who dropped a double-double with ten points and ten rebounds.

Hickory lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Gianna Fleming, who dropped a double-double with 14 points and 11 boards. Audrey Harkless was another key player, earning eight points and seven rebounds.

Commodore Perry's win bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Hickory, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Commodore Perry wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 55-36 loss against Sharon on the 6th. As for Hickory, they have also already played their next contest, a 52-28 defeat against Sharpsville on the 6th.
