Baseball Game Preview: Manchester Greyhounds vs. Southeastern Panthers

The Manchester Greyhounds are taking a road trip to square off against the Southeastern Panthers at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday. Manchester is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7 runs per game this season.

Manchester will bounce into Saturday's game after beating Eastern, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Greyhounds came out on top against the Warriors by a score of 5-1 on Tuesday. The victory was familiar territory for the Greyhounds, who have now won three contests in a row.

Luke Applegate made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 14 over six innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs and one double. He is becoming a predictor of Manchester's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 9-1 (and 4-6 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, Clayton Colvin was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.

Meanwhile, while Southeastern put up plenty of runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for Belpre. The Panthers were the clear victors by a 12-0 margin over the Golden Eagles.

Manchester's record now sits at 13-7. As for Southeastern, their record is now 14-8.
