Basketball Recap: Bertie Piles Up the Points Against KIPP P

You can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Bertie's strategy against KIPP P on Thursday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Falcons blew the Pride out of the water with a 50-17 final score. The game was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Falcons had established a 27-point advantage.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Bertie to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jasmine Taylor, who went 8-for-19 to rack up 20 points and eight steals. The team also got some help courtesy of NiQuheia Perkins, who posted 11 points and five steals.

Bertie was working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as KIPP P only posted four.

KIPP P lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Natha Williams, who dropped a double-double with 12 points and 23 boards.

Bertie has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 45 points this season. As for KIPP P, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Bertie didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 67-22 loss against Washington County on the 12th. KIPP P will take on Roanoke Rapids in a holiday battle at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
