Basketball Recap: Hughson Comes Up Short

In Saturday's Canine Competition, Hughson had to take the L. They took a blow against the Ceres Bulldogs on Saturday, falling 61-24. If the Huskies were looking for revenge after losing 63-35 to the Bulldogs when the teams met back in December of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Despite the loss, Hughson saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Lila Miranda posted ten points.

This is the second loss in a row for Hughson and nudges their season record down to 3-7. As for Ceres, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-6 record this season.

Hughson will be taking part in a tournament against Merced at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. The Huskies' defense better be ready for this one: the Bears have averaged an impressive 50.5 points per game this season. As for Ceres, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 55-48 win against Pitman on the 22nd.
