Soccer Game Preview: La Salle vs. Saint Joseph

The La Salle Lancers will challenge the Saint Joseph Jesters at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. La Salle's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for six straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

La Salle fought the good fight in their overtime contest against Bishop Amat on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Lancers by a score of 1-0. While losing is never fun, La Salle can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 306th, while Bishop Amat is ranked 86th).

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Saint Joseph, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Monday. They never let St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy onto the board and left with a 7-0 victory on Tuesday. Considering the Jesters have won three matches by more than four goals this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

La Salle now has a losing record at 3-4-2. As for Saint Joseph, their win bumped their record up to 7-1-1.
