Soccer Recap: South Gate Finishes Even with Marquez

After a string of three wins, South Gate's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They and the Marquez Gladiators finished up their contest with a 1-1 draw. The result (or lack thereof) was the first time the Rams have been dealt a draw since back in December of 2024.

Their goal came courtesy of Melody Arevalo, who's now up to 13 this season.

South Gate's draw makes their record 10-3-3 this season. As for Marquez, they moved theirs to 2-5-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. South Gate will venture away from home to square off against Verdugo Hills at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Verdugo Hills' last three games have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for Marquez, they will head out to challenge Maywood Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Marquez's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for four straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.
