Soccer Game Preview: Athens Academy vs. Tallulah Falls

The Athens Academy Spartans will take on the Tallulah Falls Indians at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Athens Academy's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for three straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Athens Academy's defense heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed two weeks ago. They beat Rabun County by a goal, winning 1-0. The victory was some much needed relief for Athens Academy as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Meanwhile, Tallulah Falls entered their tilt with Loganville Christian Academy on Tuesday with eight consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with nine. They were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over the Lions. The result was nothing new for Tallulah Falls, who have now won 12 games by three goals or more so far this season.

Tallulah Falls' win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-1. Those home victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 55 goals over those seven contests. As for Athens Academy, their win bumped their record up to 5-7.

Athens Academy suffered a grim 9-1 defeat to Tallulah Falls when the teams last played back in February of 2024. That matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Spartans were down 4-1.
