Softball Recap: Landmark Christian Takes a Loss

Landmark Christian had lost 12 straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Thursday they dropped down to 0-4-1 to make it 13. They lost 17-7 to the Heritage Hawks. On the bright side, the seven- run effort marked the War Eagles' highest-scoring matchup to date.

As for Heritage, they now have a winning record of 2-1-1. The win made it back-to-back victories for they.

For Heritage's part, Kaelynn Sweger made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 3.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Sweger has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with three runs and three RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Izabella Sewell, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. Woodsley Franklin also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Landmark Christian will host Woodward Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Heritage, they will welcome Lovejoy at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
