Basketball Recap: Helix Skates Past Central with Ease

Helix's game last Saturday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. They claimed a resounding 60-32 victory over the Central Spartans. The Highlanders have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matches by 23 points or more this season.

Helix's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jordyn McMillan, who went 8 for 18 on her way to 18 points in addition to seven boards and five blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Michaelle Whyte, who went 6 of 12 on her way to 13 points and seven steals.

Central's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Maryanne Barrett, who posted 12 points. Victoria Zamora was another key player, putting up eight points.

Helix has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season. As for Central, they moved to 5-4 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Helix will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Montgomery at 12:00 p.m. on January 4, 2025. Central and Olympian will round out the year against one another at at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday.
