Basketball Game Preview: Tranquillity Tigers vs. Mendota Aztecs

Tranquillity hasn't had much luck against Mendota recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Tranquillity Tigers will host the Mendota Aztecs at 5:00 p.m.

Tranquillity is headed into Tuesday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their seventh straight game on Friday. They were five points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 22-17 heartbreaker at the hands of Avenal.

Joseline Wells put forth a good effort for the losing side as she posted eight points. That was a full 47.1% of Tranquillity's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's put up more than a third of the team's points.

Meanwhile, Mendota entered their tilt with Firebaugh on Friday with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. They walked away with a 51-41 win over the Eagles.

Mendota is also on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 19-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 25.6 points per game. As for Tranquillity, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-17.

Tranquillity was taken down by Mendota 60-4 in their previous matchup on January 10th. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Tranquillity was down 33-3.
