Softball Recap: Wilmington Christian Academy Comes Up Short

Wilmington Christian Academy had lost three straight at home, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 2-5-1 to make it four. They came up short against Freedom Christian Academy, falling 19-1. Wilmington Christian Academy was not able to make up for their loss to Freedom Christian Academy from their previous meeting back in March of 2024.

As for Freedom Christian Academy, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 18-2. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 18 matches by six runs or more this season.

For Freedom Christian Academy's part, Rylan Miller and Victoria Bryant were major factors no matter where they played. Throwing, Miller tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Bryant tossed 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up a single earned run in 12 consecutive appearances. At bat, Miller went 3-for-5 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base, while Bryant got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run and two runs.

In other batting news, Freedom Christian Academy got a massive performance out of Aubrey Multerer, who fired off three triples, three RBI, and two runs while going 3-for-3. That's the most hits Multerer has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Savannah Graham, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs.

Coming up, Wilmington Christian Academy will head out to take on Harrells Christian Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Crusaders have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.17 runs per game on average), something the Patriots will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Freedom Christian Academy, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Wesleyan Christian Academy at 5:00 p.m. on the 28th.
