Preview: Hoopa Valley Warriors vs. South Fork Cubs
Hoopa Valley is 9-1 against South Fork since December of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Hoopa Valley Warriors will head out on the road to challenge the South Fork Cubs at 7:00 p.m. Hoopa Valley is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.
Last Friday, Hoopa Valley came up short against St. Bernard's and fell 52-39. While losing is never fun, Hoopa Valley can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 287th, while St. Bernard's is ranked 141st).
Hoopa Valley's loss came about despite a quality game from Tashee Tracy, who scored 19 points. Another player making a difference was Tahlia Booth, who scored six points.
South Fork suffered their biggest defeat since November 21, 2023 on Friday. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 49-26 walloping at the hands of Ferndale. South Fork has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Hoopa Valley's loss was their third straight at home, which bumped their record down to 8-6. As for South Fork, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-7.
Everything came up roses for Hoopa Valley against South Fork in their previous meeting back in February of 2023 as the squad secured a 68-17 win. Will Hoopa Valley repeat their success, or does South Fork have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
