Basketball Recap: Turlock Christian Comes Up Short

Turlock Christian came into their game on Tuesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against the Vacaville Christian Falcons, falling 47-22. The Eagles were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 34-10.

Despite the defeat, Turlock Christian saw an underclassman step up: freshman Mariana Montes posted six points and 15 boards. Those 15 rebounds set a new season-high mark for Montes.

Leading Vacaville Christian to victory were Elena Vizcay and Jenna Glide. Vizcay went 8-for-13 en route to 21 points and three steals, while Glide shot 63% from the field on her way to 13 points and six boards. The dominant performance also gave Vizcay a new career-high in three-point shooting accuracy (75%). Danielle Ruff was another key player, putting up four points and three steals.

Turlock Christian moved to 3-3 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak. As for Vacaville Christian, their win bumped their record up to 4-2.

Turlock Christian wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 27-26 victory against Big Valley Christian on the 11th. As for Vacaville Christian, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 53-15 win against Buckingham Charter on the 11th.
