Preview: Paloma Valley Wildcats vs. King Wolves
Having just played yesterday, the Paloma Valley Wildcats will jump right back in to play the King Wolves at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Paloma Valley had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They put the hurt on Palm Springs with a sharp 50-24 win on Wednesday. With Paloma Valley ahead 32-8 at the half, the game was all but over already.
Ashlee Medrano continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 20 points along with seven steals. That makes it 12 consecutive games in which she has scored at least 25% of Paloma Valley's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Gina Misiaita, who scored ten points along with six rebounds.
Meanwhile, King waltzed into their contest Wednesday with six straight wins but they left with seven. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Upland 63-26 on the road. Given King's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 100th, while Upland is ranked 714th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Paloma Valley's win bumped their record up to 8-4. As for King, their victory bumped their record up to 13-4.
Things could have been worse for Paloma Valley, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 59-40 loss to King in their previous matchup back in December of 2022. Can Paloma Valley avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
