Fountain Hills came out on top against Highland Prep West on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive 14-run seventh inning. The Falcons were the clear victors by a 20-5 margin over the HORNETS. The Falcons might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five contests by ten runs or more this season.

Shania Rivera was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out nine batters over six innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits. Rivera was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March of 2024.

In other batting news, Fountain Hills got a massive performance out of Sammantha Hughes, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and one stolen base. Hughes has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Mia Espinoza was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs.

Fountain Hills lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. They are 2-1 when they post two or more home runs.

The victory got Fountain Hills back to even at 5-5. As for Highland Prep West, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-12 record this season.

Fountain Hills will venture away from home to square off against Red Rock at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Highland Prep West, they will host Trivium Prep at 3:45 p.m. on Monday.
