Basketball Game Preview: Lawndale Cardinals vs. Cleveland Cavaliers

The Lawndale Cardinals will take on the Cleveland Cavaliers in a tournament on Thursday. Lawndale has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

Lawndale is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They claimed a resounding 85-43 win over Beverly Hills. The Cardinals have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matches by 21 points or more this season.

Lawndale's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Kalani Pearson, who went 14 of 18 en route to 33 points along with five rebounds and four steals, and Telayia Fuller, who went 9 of 19 en route to 21 points along with eight boards and seven steals. Fuller has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 12 times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Amira Townes, who posted 17 points and five steals.

Lawndale smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 25 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in 12 consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Cleveland lost to Leuzinger at home by a 58-44 margin on Tuesday. The Cavaliers haven't had much luck with the Olympians recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.

Lawndale pushed their record up to 10-5 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 74.3 points per game. As for Cleveland, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-7.
